About Brandon

Hi. I am Brandon Otten. I built CrewCoach because I have spent most of my working life in roles like the ones it serves. Those roles taught me what good leadership feels like from the bottom up.

Where I have worked

Wendy's, Las Vegas, 1991-1993.

Seventeen years old. Register, grill, fries, backroom. Asked to be a shift supervisor before I joined the Air Force. The shift leader who taught me how to tie my first tie still shapes how I think about what good leadership looks like.

MGM Grand, Las Vegas, 1993-1994.

Busboy and server's assistant at the Studio Cafe. Worked the Midway games when the casino first opened. Learned the principle that has stayed with me longer than anything else from that year. Once a problem is brought to you, you own it. You either find the solution or you help the person get to one. You never pass the buck.

Southwest Airlines, McCarran International, 1994-1996.

Loaded bags. Drove the lavatory cart. Made friends with the crew. Showed up every day for work most people do not want to think about.

United States Air Force, July 1996 to February 2017.

Twenty years. Retired with the Meritorious Service Medal. Held leadership roles across multiple commands. The Air Force taught me what showing up looks like, what the standard means, and what real leadership feels like under pressure.

Williams Energy, February 2017 onward.

Training Specialist and Training Programs Manager. First post-military civilian role. Designed and ran training programs for an industrial frontline workforce.

Dent Wizard, current.

Technical Training Operations Specialist. Part of the Dealer Tire family of companies.

What I have studied

Magna Cum Laude in Human Resource Development. Certifications in Agile, Instructional Design, and Change Leadership. Twenty years of military leadership development. A decade of designing training programs for frontline workforces.

What this means for CrewCoach

I have personally worked almost every role CrewCoach is designed for. Crew member at Wendy's. Service assistant at the MGM. Baggage and lavatory crew at Southwest. Twenty years of military leadership. A decade of designing training programs for hourly frontline workforces.

CrewCoach is the synthesis of my lived experience and my professional craft.

I am not asking your shift leaders to take a journey I have read about. I am asking them to take a journey I have been on.
